Personalized To Each Child’s Needs

Our treatment begins with a comprehensive understanding of each child’s unique needs. This understanding is developed though initial and on-going caregiver, teacher, and student involvement with the treatment process. Our treatment packages are highly individualized to meet the needs of each child.

Autism Family Partnerships takes a team approach to our treatment. Caregivers, parents, siblings, teachers, and peers after often actively involved in goal setting and the implementation of treatments. Our focus on independence for our clients means that many skills will be practiced in the natural setting, allowing our learners to practice skills under the real-life settings in which they will occur.

Our ABA therapy curriculum combines decades of research in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. Please visit the areas below for more information on our programming.

ABA for Pragmatic Language

Appropriate pragmatic language skills involve an understanding of the rules of conversation. This includes the language skills and social knowledge necessary to understand meaning when listening, and to respond correctly when speaking. Children and adolescents with autism often present with deficits in pragmatic language. Unfortunately, this often has a negative impact on the child’s interaction with others.

ABA therapy allows us to break down complex pragmatic language skills into small, teachable units for our learners to practice. Some examples of pragmatic language skills include:

  • Expanding conversations with peers and adults
  • Eye contact in social situations
  • Understanding idioms, similes, and analogies
  • Inferring meaning from conversational tone
  • Conversational turn-taking
  • Understanding body language
  • Virtual conversations

ABA for Social Skills

Many children and adolescents with autism struggle to form and maintain relationships with others. Our program focuses on building the foundational skills necessary to form meaningful relationships with others. This includes relationships with family, teachers, community members, friends, and romantic relationships. In addition to practicing social skills in the one on one format, AFP offers opportunities for social engagement through structured social groups.

ABA for Executive Functioning

Executive functioning involves several aspects of behavior. These include a person’s ability to organize, inhibit impulses, selectively attend, sustain attention, and modify behavior based on results. Deficits with executive functioning can produce challenges in daily problem solving for individuals with ASD. Particularly with school-aged children and adolescents, the need to demonstrate successful executive functioning skills becomes more important as support with academic work, self-care, and safety are faded. By using evidence-based treatments, deficits in executive functioning can be successfully managed.

ABA for Emotional Regulation

Emotional regulation issues are an often-cited issue with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. These issues are often play a significant role in the production of aberrant behavior. To address emotional regulation deficits, AFP offers several programs aimed at increasing emotional awareness, flexibility, and problem-solving skills. These programs include:

  • Emotion identification and understanding
  • Negotiation tactics
